Six New Team Members Join the Downtown Denver Partnership to Focus on Safety & Security

Updated: May 2

The Downtown Denver Partnership and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District (BID) are excited to announce six additions to our downtown security team. The addition of these new team members are a key facet of the recent update to a collaborative Downtown Safety Plan and reflect the Partnership and the BID’s deep commitment to a safe, welcoming downtown for all. These new Public Safety Ambassadors will enhance our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming downtown experience for all.

Our six new security officers bring diverse expertise and backgrounds to strengthen the team. Their combined experience spans multiple security sectors, community engagement, emergency medical training, military service, and business relationship development. The group includes individuals with advanced degrees, specialized certifications, and varied professional backgrounds that complement security expertise and a collective commitment to a safe, welcoming downtown. Together, they offer a well-rounded combination of formal education, specialized training, military experience, community engagement skills, and industry knowledge that will strengthen our downtown presence.

Funded by Denver Arts & Venues as part of a recent contract expansion to support enlivening 16th Street as the project nears completion, these team members will focus patrol efforts on 16th Street throughout the summer, beginning with the 16th Street Summer Kickoff.

  • A new dedicated downtown police unit that will increase services and greater visibility to build upon our progress with 10 extra foot patrols each day to help deter incidents, respond quickly, and be a resource to the community

  • DPD’s mounted horse patrol will be dedicated to downtown

  • A new DPD Downtown Kiosk at 16th and Arapahoe streets will serve as a hub for officers and give residents and visitors an easy way to get questions answered or report any issues quickly and safely
